Ingredients
- 4 Portobello mushrooms (large)
- 2 tbsps Olive oil
- 2 tbsps Balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 Garlic (minced) cloves
- 120 mls (0.5 cup) BBQ sauce
- 4 Burger buns
- 4 Lettuce leaves
- 1 Tomato (sliced)
- 1 Red onion (sliced)
- 4 Cheddar cheese slices
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
Instructions
- Clean the Portobello mushrooms and remove the stems.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
- Brush the mixture onto both sides of the mushrooms.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Place the mushrooms on the grill, gill side up, and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, basting with BBQ sauce.
- During the last 2 minutes of grilling, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each mushroom to melt.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill for a minute or until golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the grilled mushroom, tomato slices, red onion slices, and the top bun.
