Ingredients
- 400 gms (0.89 lb) tofu (firm)
- 240 mls (1 cup) plain yogurt
- 2 garlic (minced) cloves
- 1 tbsp ginger (grated)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsps garam masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsps oil
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 240 mls (1 cup) tomato puree
- 240 mls (1 cup) heavy cream
- 2 tbsps fresh cilantro (chopped)
Instructions
- Press the tofu to remove excess water and cut it into cubes.
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Add tofu cubes to the marinade, mix well to coat the tofu, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Arrange marinated tofu cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add tomato puree and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the baked tofu cubes to the pan and mix well.
- Stir in heavy cream and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
Notes
- Tofu Tikka Masala is a delicious vegetarian alternative to the traditional chicken version.
- Marinating the tofu overnight will enhance the flavors.
