  • 60 mls (0.25 cup) water
  • 1 cup Thai basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Crush and mince the garlic cloves and chilies together with a mortar and pestle or by hand.
  3. Add the garlic and chili mixture to the hot oil and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the ground beef to the wok and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
  5. Stir in the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Mix well.
  6. Pour in the water and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
  7. Add the Thai basil leaves and stir-fry until wilted, about 1 minute.
  8. Serve hot with steamed jasmine rice and top with a fried egg, if desired.
