Lebanese Beef Kafta with Hummus and Tabbouleh

Ingredients
- 500 gms (1.11 lbs) ground beef
- 1 onion
- 50 gms (0.11 lb) fresh parsley
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsps olive oil
- 400 gms (0.89 lb) chickpeas
- 60 mls (0.25 cup) tahini
- 60 mls (0.25 cup) lemon juice
- 2 garlic cloves
- 100 gms (0.22 lb) cooked bulgur
- 20 gms (0.04 lb) fresh mint
- 200 gms (0.44 lb) fresh tomatoes
- 100 gms (0.22 lb) cucumber
- 3 tbsps olive oil (for Tabbouleh)
- 3 tbsps lemon juice (for Tabbouleh)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, chopped parsley, allspice, black pepper, cumin, and salt. Mix well.
- Shape the beef mixture into long sausage-like shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the Kafta with olive oil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until fully cooked.
- While the Kafta is baking, prepare the hummus. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Blend until smooth. Add water if needed to achieve a creamy consistency.
- For the Tabbouleh, combine cooked bulgur, finely chopped parsley, mint, diced tomatoes, and cucumber in a large bowl.
- Dress the Tabbouleh with olive oil and lemon juice, and season with salt to taste.
- Serve the Kafta hot, alongside hummus and fresh Tabbouleh.
