Ingredients
- 200 gms (0.44 lb) thinly sliced beef
- 1 onion
- 240 mls (1 cup) dashi stock
- 4 tbsps soy sauce
- 3 tbsps mirin
- 2 tbsps sugar
- 2 tbsps sake
- 2 steamed rice
- 1 tsp pickled ginger (optional)
- 1 spring onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Thinly slice the onion and set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onion to the saucepan and cook until translucent.
- Add the sliced beef to the onion mixture, stir frequently, and cook until the beef is no longer pink.
- Divide the steamed rice into bowls and top with the beef and onion mixture.
- Garnish with spring onions and pickled ginger if desired.
- Serve immediately while hot.
