Ingredients
- 450 gms (1 lb) ground beef
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 cheddar cheese slices
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- 4 onion slices
- 4 tbsps mayonnaise
- 4 tbsps ketchup
- 4 potatoes
- 480 mls (2 cups) vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Season the ground beef with salt and black pepper, then form it into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach the desired level of doneness.
- Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking, and allow it to melt.
- While the patties are cooking, slice the potatoes into thin strips for fries.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the potato strips in batches for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute until slightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun, then add lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise, and ketchup.
- Serve the cheeseburgers hot with a side of freshly made French fries.
