Ingredients
- 900 gms (2 lbs) Beef fillet
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 2 tbsps Butter
- 2 tbsps Olive oil
- 1 Onion chopped
- 2 Garlic cloves
- 450 gms (1 lb) Mushrooms
- 240 mls (1 cup) White wine
- 1 Puff pastry package
- 1 Egg, beaten
Instructions
- Season the beef fillet with salt and pepper.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan and sear the beef fillet on all sides until browned. Remove from pan and let it cool.
- In the same pan, sauté onion, garlic, and mushrooms until soft. Deglaze the pan with white wine and let it reduce.
- Roll out the puff pastry and place the mushroom mixture on it. Put the beef fillet on top and wrap the pastry around it, sealing the edges.
- Brush the pastry with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- It is important to properly seal the edges of the puff pastry to prevent the filling from leaking out while baking.
