Ingredients

  • 900 gms (2 lbs) Beef fillet
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsps Butter
  • 2 tbsps Olive oil
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 450 gms (1 lb) Mushrooms
  • 240 mls (1 cup) White wine
  • 1 Puff pastry package
  • 1 Egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Season the beef fillet with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat butter and olive oil in a pan and sear the beef fillet on all sides until browned. Remove from pan and let it cool.
  3. In the same pan, sauté onion, garlic, and mushrooms until soft. Deglaze the pan with white wine and let it reduce.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry and place the mushroom mixture on it. Put the beef fillet on top and wrap the pastry around it, sealing the edges.
  5. Brush the pastry with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  6. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • It is important to properly seal the edges of the puff pastry to prevent the filling from leaking out while baking.
