Ingredients

  • 500 gms (1.11 lbs) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 120 mls (0.5 cup) soy sauce
  • 60 mls (0.25 cup) sake
  • 60 mls (0.25 cup) mirin
  • 3 tbsps sugar
  • 2 tsps garlic, minced
  • 2 tsps ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 4 steamed white rice
  • 2 tsps sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced beef to the pan and cook until browned on all sides, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the beef in the pan. Stir and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve the beef teriyaki hot over steamed white rice.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
