Ingredients
- 450 gms (1 lb) beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 60 mls (0.25 cup) lemon juice
- 60 mls (0.25 cup) olive oil
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 3 garlic, minced cloves
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 1 cucumber, grated and drained
- 240 mls (1 cup) Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp dill, chopped
- 1 garlic, minced clove
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 4 pita bread
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 240 mls (1 cup) romaine lettuce, shredded
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 tbsp dried oregano, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper.
- Add beef cubes to the marinade, mix well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated beef cubes onto skewers.
- Grill the beef skewers for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine grated cucumber, Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp lemon juice, chopped dill, 1 minced garlic clove, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper to make the tzatziki sauce.
- Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Assemble the souvlaki by placing the grilled beef on the warmed pita bread and topping with tomato slices, red onion slices, shredded romaine lettuce, and tzatziki sauce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
