  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita bread
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 240 mls (1 cup) romaine lettuce, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 tbsp dried oregano, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper.
  2. Add beef cubes to the marinade, mix well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated beef cubes onto skewers.
  5. Grill the beef skewers for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked.
  6. Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine grated cucumber, Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp lemon juice, chopped dill, 1 minced garlic clove, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper to make the tzatziki sauce.
  7. Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1-2 minutes per side.
  8. Assemble the souvlaki by placing the grilled beef on the warmed pita bread and topping with tomato slices, red onion slices, shredded romaine lettuce, and tzatziki sauce.
