Ingredients
- 500 gms (1.11 lbs) Ground Beef
- 1 Onion
- 3 clovess Garlic
- 2 tsps Ground Cumin
- 1 tsp Ground Coriander
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
- 50 gms (0.11 lb) Fresh Parsley
- 30 gms (0.07 lb) Fresh Mint
- 100 gms (0.22 lb) Bulgur Wheat
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Cucumber
- 50 mls (0.21 cup) Lemon Juice
- 3 tbsps Olive Oil
- 400 gms (0.89 lb) Chickpeas
- 2 tbsps Tahini
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 30 mls (0.13 cup) Ice Water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Finely chop the onion and garlic. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into long sausage-like kaftas and place them on a baking tray. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
- To prepare the tabbouleh, rinse the bulgur wheat and soak it in boiling water until tender. Drain well.
- Finely chop the parsley, mint, tomatoes, and cucumber. In a large bowl, combine the soaked bulgur, parsley, mint, tomatoes, cucumber, lemon juice, and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- For the hummus, place the chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and ice water in a food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and paprika.
- Serve the beef kafta with tabbouleh and hummus on the side.
