Ingredients

  • 500 gms (1.11 lbs) Beef (boneless)
  • 480 mls (2 cups) Basmati rice
  • 2 Onion, large
  • 2 Tomato, medium
  • 240 mls (1 cup) Yogurt
  • 2 tbsps Ginger garlic paste
  • 4 Green chilies
  • 2 tbsps Biryani masala
  • 240 mls (1 cup) Mint leaves
  • 240 mls (1 cup) Coriander leaves
  • 1 Saffron strands, pinch
  • 2 tbsps Milk
  • 3 tbsps Oil
  • 3 tbsps Ghee
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 960 mls (4 cups) Water

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef with yogurt, ginger garlic paste, biryani masala, mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, and salt for at least 2 hours.
  2. In a separate pan, sauté sliced onions until golden brown and keep aside.
  3. In a large pot, layer half of the marinated beef followed by half of the sautéed onions and mint leaves.
  4. Add the basmati rice layer on top of the beef mixture.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining beef, onions, and mint leaves.
  6. Mix saffron strands with warm milk and drizzle over the rice.
  7. Pour water and ghee over the layers and cook on low heat until the rice and beef are cooked through.
  8. Serve hot with raita and salad.

Notes

  • Soak the rice for 30 minutes before cooking
  • Marinate the beef for at least 2 hours for best flavor
